Varano Vintage and Caldana cycling events celebrate motorsport and cycling heritage

The 10th edition of Varano Vintage took place at the Autodromo Riccardo Paletti in Varano de’ Melegari. Despite heavy rain, the event featured vehicles manufactured before 1990, including historic models from the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Club Italia and the Domino Club. International participation included Austrian touring car drivers, while notable displays featured an Alfa Romeo GTAm and a Ford Sierra. Single-seater racing from the Formula Italia and Formula Abarth series also participated, alongside rare models like the Dulon Formula Ford and the Formula Monza.

In Caldana, Cocquio Trevisago, a major cycling gathering was held as part of the Ottobre Caldanese festivities. Organized by Ciclovarese, the event saw 64 athletes participate in a cycle-tourism rally. The day included a tribute to the late Bruno Bertagna, with trophies presented by Eugenia Bertagna. The event also featured cultural exhibitions at the Teatro SOMS, including historical photography of the Tre Valli Varesine race and a collection of vintage bicycles by Matteo Bolla, alongside archival documents from collector Luca Carraro regarding the 1951 Varese World Championships.
