Varazze approves protocol for Beigua road management
The Varazze City Council has approved a Memorandum of Understanding to coordinate the design, financing, and management of the Piampaludo–Monte Beigua–Alpicella road. This agreement aims to resolve the current fragmentation of ownership and management along the route.
The protocol involves several entities, including the Liguria Region, the Province of Savona, the Beigua Park Authority, and the municipalities of Varazze, Cogoleto, Stella, and Sassello. The goal is to establish a unified governance structure that allows for coordinated structural and maintenance interventions.
Mayor Luigi Pierfederici described the initiative as an example of effective territorial policy, noting that the road connects mountain and coastal areas and serves as a strategic link for the wider region. The project is expected to improve local mobility and enhance access to the Beigua Park for tourism, hiking, and cycling. The next steps will involve formal design activities and the search for necessary funding.
