VARD secures up to €75 million offshore vessel contract from Dong Fang Offshore

VARD, a subsidiary of the Fincantieri Group, has secured a contract from Taiwan-based Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) to design and construct a new Commissioning Service Operation vessel (CSOV). The contract is valued between €66 million and €75 million.

Based on the VARD 4 39 design, the vessel will be built at Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam, with delivery scheduled for the third quarter of 2028. The ship is engineered for offshore wind installation, maintenance, subsea operations, and power cable installation and repair. Key features include a battery-hybrid propulsion system, a 32-metre walk-to-work system, and a 700-square-metre work deck. The vessel also includes options for a 70-tonne active heave-compensated offshore crane and ROV launch and recovery capabilities.

This agreement marks the fifth vessel ordered by DFO from VARD, following previous contracts for two CSOVs in 2024 and two additional vessels in 2025, including an Offshore Construction Subsea vessel.
