Macedonian Football Federation sanctions Vardar over offensive title celebration

FK Vardar secured its 12th Macedonian league championship, ending a six‑year title drought, with a 1‑0 win over Struga. During the victory celebrations, fans and the club posted a vulgar song that insulted pop singer Caroline Gocheva.

The Ministry of Sport, represented by Minister Borco Ristovski, publicly condemned the incident, stating “we unequivocally condemn such celebrations that contain hate, insults and vulgar content” and called for a public apology from the club.

The Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) issued an identical condemnation, describing the behavior as “unacceptable, disrespectful and contrary to fair‑play values.” The federation announced that its disciplinary inspector will open a formal case against FK Vardar, which may lead to sanctions under its regulations.
