Varese authorities investigate fatal construction accident and shooting

Authorities in the Varese province are conducting two separate investigations following recent deaths in the region.

In Origgio, the Varese Prosecutor's Office has opened a manslaughter investigation into the death of 55-year-old carpenter Alessandro Vezzoli. The incident occurred at a construction site on via Don Giovanni Minzoni during the development of residential buildings. Vezzoli was reportedly working on a slab when the structure suddenly collapsed, crushing him. Investigators are examining whether safety protocols were followed and have placed the structure under seizure.

In Castellanza, the Carabinieri and the Busto Arsizio Prosecutor's Office are investigating the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old Moroccan national. The victim was found with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Multimedica clinic on via Piemonte. Investigators suspect the incident may be related to drug trafficking and believe the victim may have been shot elsewhere before being moved to the clinic. Surveillance footage and local drug trafficking patterns are being reviewed to identify the perpetrators.
