Varese honors former healthcare leader Carlo Lucchina

The Province of Varese held a memorial event at Villa Recalcati on October 3 to honor the late Carlo Lucchina, a prominent manager and former director general of healthcare for the Lombardy Region.

The commemoration included the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Lucchina in the former office of the Director General of the Province. The event, titled “Carlo Lucchina. L’uomo oltre il manager,” was organized by the association Varese per l’Oncologia ODV, which Lucchina led until his passing in 2024.

Several high-profile figures attended the ceremony, including Lombardy Region President Attilio Fontana and Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti. Fontana praised Lucchina’s fundamental contributions to the healthcare sector and his dedication to ensuring citizens received necessary care. Nicoletta Caverzasio Ferloni, president of Varese per l’Oncologia, described him as a man with a decisive character and a kind heart.
