Varese hosts fifth edition of On the Road youth program

The fifth edition of the “On the Road” initiative in Varese has concluded, providing over thirty young people, aged 16 and older, with a week-long immersive experience alongside law enforcement and emergency responders. Coordinated by the Prefecture of Varese and promoted by the Associazione Ragazzi On the Road, the program allowed participants to shadow members of the State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Penitentiary Police, Firefighters, local police, and medical emergency operators.

The initiative aims to foster responsibility, respect for rules, and civic engagement by offering a direct perspective on public safety and emergency services. Participants engaged in activities such as the “Notte Interforze” (Inter-force Night) and met with various institutional figures, including Archbishop Mario Delpini. The program also included youth from vulnerable backgrounds, such as unaccompanied foreign minors.

Following the conclusion of the program on October 25, organizers reported a significant impact on career interest, noting that more than fifteen new applications for these roles were submitted within 24 hours of the event's end.
