Varese hosts major rowing and mountain running events

The Varese region will host two significant sporting events in late October and early November 2026.

On October 31 and November 1, the Italian Rowing Championships (Campionati Italiani di Fondo) will take place at Lake Varese. Over 750 athletes from 62 rowing clubs will compete in 6,000-meter races starting from Biandronno and finishing at the Schiranna. The competition features a unique format where crews start side-by-side in batteries of eight boats, facilitating direct duels. Categories include Under 17, Under 19, Under 23, and Senior levels across various boat classes.

Additionally, the inaugural Laveno SkyTrail – Trofeo Fondazione Varese Welcome is scheduled for November 1, 2026, in Laveno Mombello. This mountain running event offers three distinct routes: a 24K technical mountain course with 1,800 meters of elevation gain, a 15K vertical-focused race, and a 9K Laveno Urban Run on predominantly paved surfaces. The event aims to promote the natural and tourist landscape of the Varese Prealps, connecting Lake Maggiore to the Sasso del Ferro ridges.
