Varese hosts signature drive for Lombardy railway reform

A signature collection campaign for the “Lombardia si Muove” regional popular initiative law is launching in Varese on Saturday, September 26. The initiative aims to address systemic issues within the Lombardy regional railway service, specifically targeting frequent delays, cancellations, and general service disruptions.

The proposed law seeks to establish stronger protections and guarantees for travelers, with a particular focus on daily commuters who rely on trains for work and education. Promoters argue that these service failures should not be treated as a normal condition for passengers.

The campaign is supported by a diverse coalition of civic and political groups, including Europa, Azione Varese, Volt, Possibile, Ora! Lombardia, Italia Viva Varese, Europa Verde, Radicali Italiani, Giovani Democratici Varese, Partito Socialista Italiano, Partito Liberaldemocratico, and the Comitato Pendolari Gallarate-Milano. The goal of the signature drive is to bring the proposal before the Lombardy Regional Council.
