Varese region hosts ecological and gastronomic walking tours

Various community and environmental initiatives are promoting local tourism and ecological awareness in the Varese region of Italy through organized walks.

Alfa srl is organizing free walks along the Via Francisca from September to October. These excursions focus on the theme ‘Acqua Viva’ (Living Water), highlighting the relationship between water, landscape, and local history. Participants will visit sites such as the Cairate purification plant to learn about wastewater treatment and explore historical locations like the Liberty-style station in Ghirla and the hydroelectric facilities at Maglio and Mulino Ripamonti.

Additionally, the ‘Camminar Mangiando’ event will take place around Lake Monate on September 13. Organized by local Pro Loco associations and municipal administrations, this gastronomic walk connects the towns of Comabbio, Travedona Monate, Cadrezzate, and Osmate. The event features four culinary stops—breakfast, aperitif, lunch, and dessert—designed to showcase local flavors while exploring the lakeside landscape.
