Varese to install 22 new security cameras in priority areas

The city of Varese is expanding its urban video surveillance network with the installation of 22 new cameras. The project, titled ‘Implementazione impianto di videosorveglianza urbana’, is part of a national funding program for municipalities to enhance security tools.

The total cost of the intervention is approximately 205,995 euros, with the Italian Ministry of the Interior covering 70% of the expenses and the municipality covering the remainder. The initiative follows a security pact signed between the Prefecture of Varese and the Municipality.

Three priority areas have been identified for the new installations:

• Parco Molina: 10 cameras will be installed to increase monitoring in an area noted for recent criminal activity. • Bregazzana district: 6 cameras will be placed here to combat urban decay and increase territorial control. • Piazza Carducci: 6 cameras will be added to the historic city center to improve surveillance in this highly frequented zone.
