Vargem residents receive free transport after walkway collapse

Following the collapse of a pedestrian walkway on the Fernão Dias highway (BR-381) in Vargem, São Paulo, the concessionaire Motiva Minas_SP is providing free transportation for local residents. The service, which began on Friday, will operate daily from 6:00 to 22:00 with departures every 30 minutes to assist pedestrians while the structure is being rebuilt.

Two designated boarding and disembarking points have been established on Rua Fernando Berardi: one in Vila Cristo and another in the city center near Supermercado Tardini. This temporary measure will remain in place until the new pedestrian crossing is completed.

Regarding the accident site, the concessionaire has cleared the debris from the old structure and repaired the highway pavement in the affected areas. Soil testing is currently underway to support the executive project for the new walkway. The construction company has already been contracted, and the new structure is expected to be delivered in the coming months. The original incident occurred on August 18 when a truck struck the walkway.
