Varginha Zoobotanical Park receives rescued carcará

A carcará bird that was rescued on the BR-459 highway has been transferred to the Municipal Zoobotanical Park of Doctor Mário Frota in Varginha. The bird was originally found injured in Caldas by the EPR Sul de Minas team.

Following treatment at a veterinary clinic in Congonhal for a fractured right leg, the bird recovered physically. However, behavioral assessments determined that the animal lost essential survival skills, such as hunting and defensive responses, making it unable to return to the wild. The zoobotanical park will provide continuous care in a specialized enclosure.
