Various business updates in banking, carbon markets, and retail

Various business developments are occurring across the financial and industrial sectors. SBI Shinsei Bank has launched a smartphone ATM service, allowing customers to perform cash deposits and withdrawals at Seven Bank and Lawson Bank ATMs using only a smartphone app.

In the United States, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) announced plans to enter the voluntary carbon credit market. The company aims to generate carbon removal credits from its corn processing facility in Columbus, Nebraska, which has an estimated annual carbon removal capacity of over 800,000 tonnes.

In Japan, Teikoku Databank reports a contraction in the resignation agency market. Approximately 26.9% of major providers face potential service suspension due to increased legal risks regarding unauthorized legal practice and intensifying price competition.

Financial services are also introducing new consumer incentives. Mitsubishi UFJ e-Smart Securities is running a campaign offering 5,000 yen for new account openings with specific investment requirements. Meanwhile, Rakuten Pay is offering up to 22.5% point returns for users combining Rakuten Travel bookings in Sapporo with local code payments.
