Various cycling journeys reported in Argentina and Chile
In Argentina, 22-year-old Fernando Barreda traveled 400 kilometers by bicycle from Villa Mercedes, San Luis, to the Difunta Correa sanctuary in Vallecito, San Juan. The three-day journey was undertaken to fulfill a personal promise made after qualifying for a cycling competition. Barreda faced significant challenges, including exhaustion and running out of water 15 kilometers from his destination, before being joined by his brothers for the final stretch.
In Chile, a group of six young people from Villa Punta Delgada completed a 33-kilometer round trip by bicycle to the volcanic crater and cave of the Pali Aike National Park. The expedition, which took place on November 1, 1995, was inspired by local explorer Winston Alarcón Cárdenas. While some participants had to turn back due to equipment failure, the group successfully navigated the Magallanes steppe terrain.
