Various Japanese castle festivals scheduled for late 2025

Multiple regional festivals celebrating Japanese castle history are scheduled to take place in Shizuoka and Fukui prefectures.

In Yoshida Town, Shizuoka, the 40th Koyama Castle Festival will be held on November 3. To commemorate the 40th anniversary, the traditional mochi-throwing event will feature an increased supply of 8,000 rice cakes. The event includes over 60 food and product stalls, performances by local drum and dance groups, and free admission to the Koyama Castle observatory.

The Echizen Wakasa Castle Fest 2026 is set for October 31 and November 1 in Fukui City. The festival will feature booths from 28 organizations representing various castles, including Maruoka and Ichijodani, alongside merchandise sales. Programming includes historical lectures, appearances by local warrior troupes, and hands-on activities such as armor fitting and origami. Additionally, the Fukui Castle ruins will offer special access to moats that are typically closed to the public.
