Various regional sports tournaments announced in Puerto Plata and Puerto Real

The Puerto Plata Beach Soccer Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place from August 21 to 23 at Playa Charamico in Sosúa. Organized by Puerto Plata Beach Soccer, the event expects to host over 150 footballers across two categories: Open and Under-15. Participating clubs include Atlántico FC, Sosúa FC, Muñoz FC, Real Deportivo, Club 6 de Febrero, Club 5 de Abril, Luis Nova Soccer, Miramar FC, and BOB Soccer.

Arturo Heinsen, president of the organizing committee, stated that the tournament aims to promote Puerto Plata as a premier destination for sports tourism in the Caribbean by leveraging the province's beaches and infrastructure.

In Spain, the municipality of Puerto Real will host its first Open Petanque Tournament, ‘Villa Puerto Real 2026’, in September. Organized by the Puerto Real City Council through the Municipal Sports Service, the competition will be held across three locations: Playa de la Cachucha, Jardines del Porvenir, and the Río San Pedro neighborhood. The tournament features absolute (over 16) and youth (under 16) categories, with matches played in duos using a league system.
