Various regional youth initiatives launched in South Korea

In Yeongcheon, the Yeongcheon Youth Center is hosting the ‘Old Downtown Alleyway Festa’ to revitalize local commerce and support young entrepreneurs. The event features one-day classes led by young business owners, including activities such as cupcake making, pizza making, and craft workshops. Additionally, the program offers guided alleyway tours, including a daytime walk with bingo missions and an evening mystery tour for adults.

In Gwangju, the Buk-gu district has entered into a ‘Youth Job Governance’ agreement with 16 institutions, including Chonnam National University and the Gwangju Techno Park. This collaborative effort aims to address youth unemployment and prevent regional brain drain by sharing corporate hiring needs, expanding internship opportunities, and developing vocational training tailored to local industry demands. A dedicated working-level consultative body is scheduled to begin operations in January 2027.
