Varna Mayor Blagomir Kocev Urges Right‑wing Presidential Candidate, Rejects GERB Coalition

Mayor Blagomir Kocev said his focus is on Varna and he is awaiting a right‑wing candidate for the upcoming Bulgarian presidential election, expecting a nomination from the PP‑DB coalition. He expressed support for Andrey Gyurov as a suitable candidate and stressed that the main clash will be between right‑wing contenders.

Kocev also rejected any alliance between PP‑DB and the GERB party for the presidential vote. He highlighted ongoing demolition orders for illegal buildings in the Baba Alino area, noting staff cuts in the municipality and the lack of promised expert assistance from the Ministry of Regional Development. The legal case against Gyurov has been sent back to the prosecutor for review.
