Varna municipal updates include transport delays and infrastructure plans
In Varna, Bulgaria, the implementation of contactless payments via bank or debit cards on municipal buses remains delayed, with no clear timeline for activation, according to Tasrud head Alexander Velinov.
The municipal transport company has requested over 3 million euros to secure public procurement for a photovoltaic power plant and the purchase of four new buses. This request has received a positive opinion from the transport commission and has been forwarded to the finance commission.
Additionally, the Varna Municipality is conducting public discussions regarding 25 projects that would require long-term municipal debt. These projects cover various sectors, including healthcare, urban environment, and transport infrastructure.
In other regional developments, a 6-decare plot near the Traffic Police (KAT) in Varna is proposed to be converted into a paid parking lot with 80 spaces. Separately, the naval mine countermeasures group in the Black Sea will expand its duties to include the monitoring of critical underwater infrastructure.
