Varna officials discuss new pedestrian crossings for road safety

The Varna Municipal Council's commission on public order, security, and traffic safety has discussed the construction and restoration of pedestrian crossings at three high-traffic locations to mitigate safety risks.

One proposal involves building a crossing with an artificial speed bump on the road to Topoli village. This area serves the Western Industrial Zone and a table tennis complex used by approximately 90 children and enthusiasts, many of whom travel independently via public transport or on foot.

A second proposal seeks to restore a pedestrian crossing on Vladislav Varnenchik Boulevard near the former ‘Roshok’ restaurant. This crossing was removed in 2019 due to safety concerns regarding vehicle acceleration near a nearby traffic light and the tendency of pedestrians to weave between stopped cars during congestion.

The third proposal suggests installing crossings on Krakra Street, specifically on the section between the roundabout and Drin Street.
