Varna upgrades school infrastructure for new academic year

Varna is preparing for the 2026/2027 school year with significant upgrades to its educational infrastructure. A total of 3,138 first-grade students are set to enroll across 37 municipal, 2 state, and 9 private schools.

Funded largely through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the city has implemented extensive renovations to improve energy efficiency and learning environments. Key developments include the establishment of STEM centers in 44 municipal schools to facilitate interdisciplinary learning. Notable projects include the complete renovation of Yordan Yovkov and Dobri Chintulov primary schools, as well as upgrades to the Mihail Koloni dormitory and Kindergarten No. 17.

Additional improvements include a new four-story sports and dance building at Konstantin Preslav Secondary School and various maintenance works across 26 kindergartens and 21 schools. These upgrades encompass electrical, plumbing, and heating systems, as well as the installation of solar and photovoltaic systems for self-consumption.
