Varna regional institutions launch joint youth risk prevention initiative

Institutions in the Varna region of Bulgaria are launching a joint initiative to establish a sustainable model for preventing risky behavior among young people. Initiated by Regional Governor Mario Smurkov, the collaboration involves the Varna Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, the Varna Municipality Prevention Directorate, the Municipal Council on Narcotic Substances, and the Regional Management of Education.

The program focuses on addressing critical risks including aggression, violence, psychoactive substance use, internet dangers, road safety, and anti-social behavior. Rather than relying on isolated campaigns, the goal is to create a long-term policy that integrates the efforts of local authorities, schools, and families.

Experts will use proven practices from the Varna Municipality to develop approaches for early recognition of risky behavior and the use of digital tools to reach youth. A series of meetings will be held with various municipalities to adapt these models to local needs, with a specific emphasis on increasing awareness regarding substance abuse and involving parents and schools more actively.
