Varna residents report aggression from neighbor with mental illness

Residents of the Mladost neighborhood in Varna, Bulgaria, have reported weeks of escalating aggression from a neighbor suffering from schizophrenia. The woman’s behavior has reportedly worsened since the death of her mother in the spring, following her decision to stop taking prescribed medication.

Security footage captured the woman entering a fast-food establishment at approximately 3:00 AM with a knife, striking the counter and breaking a POS terminal. She later targeted a nearby beauty salon, where she allegedly threatened staff with a ceramic pot. Other reported incidents include throwing heavy items such as computers and monitors from her balcony, and physically attacking a stranger in the street.

Local residents expressed fear for their safety, particularly regarding children and pets. While police have responded to incidents, neighbors claim authorities stated they lack the legal right to enter or detain the woman while she remains inside her residence.
