Varsinais-Suomi Rescue Department issues fireworks guidelines for Venetsialaiset

As the annual Venetsialaiset celebrations approach, the Varsinais-Suomi Rescue Department has issued specific guidelines and restrictions regarding the use of fireworks and lanterns.

For private celebrations on Saturday, August 29, between 18:00 and 00:00, the use of consumer fireworks is permitted without prior notification to rescue authorities. However, fireworks are strictly prohibited in the center of Uusikaupunki and within zoned residential areas or near buildings. Use outside of urban areas requires the landowner's permission.

Safety regulations mandate the use of protective eyewear, which is a legal requirement. The department also notes that fireworks are prohibited during forest fire warnings or storm wind warnings issued by the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Users are reminded not to operate fireworks under the influence of substances, to keep them away from minors, and to ensure they do not pose a risk to people, vehicles, or property.
