Vasco da Gama moves to sign Nelson Deossa as court lifts SAF intervention

Brazilian club Vasco da Gama has a verbal agreement with Real Betis and midfielder Nelson Deossa, who is currently in preseason with the Spanish side. The transfer, valued at about €11 million, has been stalled because a judicial intervention in Vasco's sports‑company (SAF) raised doubts over the club’s ability to guarantee payment.

A recent court ruling suspended the intervention, reinstated former president Pedrinho to the administration board and removed the judicial overseer, while maintaining requirements for good governance. The decision could allow Vasco to secure the necessary payment guarantees and finalize the signing in the coming days. The club also noted that the legal impasse has affected other negotiations, such as a coaching appointment and a deal for midfielder Fernando Seabra.

If resolved, the deal would add a key midfielder to Vasco’s squad ahead of the new season, pending the finalisation of the legal and financial guarantees.
