Vasco da Gama Atlético Clube de Sines celebrates 60 years
Vasco da Gama Atlético Clube de Sines is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Officially founded on October 5, 1966, the club was formed through the merger of Sport Lisboa e Sines and Clube de Futebol ‘Os Sineenses’.
Over six decades, the club has become a significant sporting reference in the Setúbal district. Notable football achievements include two national III Division titles (1979/80 and 1990/91) and reaching the round of 16 in the Taça de Portugal during the 1988/89 season. The club also competes in regional divisions and maintains a strong focus on youth development.
Beyond football, the institution has seen success in roller hockey, swimming, and underwater hunting, where it achieved international recognition as a national champion and world club runner-up. Commemorative events for the anniversary include a friendly match involving the veterans' team and an institutional ceremony.
