Vasco da Gama defends legality of SAF sale to ANRESF

Brazilian club Vasco da Gama has replied to the National Agency for Regulation and Sustainability of Football (ANRESF), asserting that its proposed sale of a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) complies with the Financial Sustainability System (SSF) and the CBF’s fair‑play rules. The club submitted documentation and argued that the transaction does not breach any regulations.

Flamengo previously asked ANRESF to scrutinise the deal, citing the rule that forbids any individual or entity from holding significant control over more than one club. The sale involves investor Marcos Lamacchia, whose father José Lamacchia – founder of Crefisa – is a guarantor, and whose mother‑in‑law Leila Pereira heads Palmeiras. ANRESF said the case will proceed through several stages, including information gathering, analysis, hearings and a merit judgment, with the possibility of an appeal.

The agency has not yet rendered a decision, and the process may be lengthy as it examines potential conflicts of interest and compliance with the sustainability regulations.
