Vasco da Gama hit by court mandate and council rebuke over finances
The São Paulo Court ordered the foreign investment firm 777 to regularize its procedural representation before it can proceed with a petition against Almirante Participações, the company that signed an agreement to acquire Vasco da Gama's Nova SAF. The magistrate gave 777 fifteen days to submit a sworn Portuguese translation of its corporate documents, prove who has power of attorney in Brazil and show a local branch or address. Failure to comply may lead to dismissal of the action.
Separately, the Vasco da Gama Deliberative Council voted to reject the club’s 2025 financial statements, criticising what it described as “poor management”, lack of transparency and unresolved sponsor disputes. The council’s note highlighted the club’s relegation in basketball, administrative errors in player registration and stalled stadium renovation as evidence of deteriorating governance.
