Vasco da Gama faces transfer ban risk over missed debt payment

Vasco da Gama faces the risk of a transfer ban after failing to pay the first installment of a debt settlement agreement with creditors. The club missed a deadline to deposit R$ 4.12 million, a payment mandated by the National Chamber for Dispute Resolution (CNRD), an organ of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

Under the terms of the agreement, which covers more than R$ 110 million in total debt, the club must provide proof of payment within five days of each due date. The deadline to present documentation for this missed installment is next Monday. Failure to comply could result in an immediate sanction prohibiting the club from registering new athletes.

The settlement also requires Vasco to pay R$ 15 million annually and allocate 10% of its gross revenue from CBF and Conmebol competition prizes toward debt repayment. The club is currently navigating a delicate financial period while awaiting a judicial decision regarding the release of a R$ 150 million loan.
