Vasco fans protest Pedrinho ouster, call for SAF sale to Lamachia

Hundreds of Vasco supporters assembled at São Januário on Sunday, June 28, 2026, to protest a judicial decision that removed club president Pedrinho from the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) and suspended several council members. The protest, organized by fan groups such as the Guerreiros da Almirante (GDA), demanded the swift completion of the SAF sale to businessman Marcos Lamachia, son of Crefisa founder José Roberto Lamachia. Chanting slogans like “Não vai ter golpe,” fans warned against a “dangerous future” and voiced concerns that the club, currently 17th in the Brazilian league, could face relegation.

Judge Caroline Fonseca of Rio de Janeiro’s 4th Business Court granted a request from creditor 777 Carioca, citing governance and transparency flaws, and appointed former CBF lawyer Samantha Longo as an interim overseer for 60 days. While the ruling does not block the sale, it requires any transaction to be aligned with 777 Carioca’s interests. The Lamachia family reaffirmed their commitment to the purchase, contingent on Pedrinho remaining involved. Meanwhile, Vasco is searching for a new head coach following Renato Gaúcho’s dismissal, with the team preparing for upcoming league matches.
