Vasco da Gama names lawyer Samantha Longo as interim manager of club's SAF
A Rio de Janeiro court appointed lawyer Samantha Mendes Longo as interventor of Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama's corporate entity (SAF) for a 60‑day period after the removal of president Pedrinho. Longo, a former CBF legal director with more than 20 years of experience, will oversee governance, transparency and financial regularity, reporting to the judge every two weeks. She has the authority to approve or reject major decisions, including hiring and firing, but says she will not intervene directly in sporting matters.
Longo confirmed that the proposed hiring of Botafogo assistant coach Franclim Carvalho faces no financial obstacle, noting the salary offer is lower than previous Vasco coaches. She met with SAF CEO Fred Luz and discussed the club’s organizational structure, the pending arbitration over share sales, and the need to restore confidence among shareholders and supporters. The interventor also aims to mediate between the club’s stakeholders and to address alleged irregularities in the SAF’s management.
