Vasco da Gama president Pedrinho responds to Flamengo criticism over SAF sale

Pedrinho, the president of Vasco da Gama, has publicly criticized Luiz Eduardo Baptista (known as Bap), the president of Flamengo, following disputes regarding the sale of Vasco's football corporation (SAF).

Pedrinho dismissed criticisms regarding the sale process, suggesting that Bap’s interference stems from a “crazy passion for Vasco.” The Vasco president expressed confidence and optimism regarding the negotiations to sell 90% of the club's SAF, which involves a proposed minimum investment of R$ 650 million over five years.

Almirante Participações e Empreendimentos S. A., led by Marcos Lamacchia, is currently the anchor investor with a right of preference in the competitive process. Flamengo has raised concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest due to Lamacchia's familial connection to Palmeiras president Leila Pereira and has reportedly contacted regulatory agencies to attempt to block the transaction.
