Vasco da Gama is negotiating with businessman Marcos Lamacchia—son‑in‑law of Leila Pereira—to sell the club’s SAF and raise funds for new player signings ahead of the upcoming Copa. The deal, which requires approval from the club’s deliberative council and an assembly vote, faces opposition from the 777 group that claims a 70% control stake and is trying to lift a court suspension.

Separately, Lucas Pedrosa, technical director of GreenLeaf, explained that recent criticisms of the São Januário turf stem from excessive vegetation density, termed a “colchão,” rather than holes or loose grass. The club plans a deeper intervention during the next calendar break, including aggressive vertical cutting and reseeding with winter grass to improve playing conditions and safety for athletes.
