Vasco da Gama confronts judicial intervention as judge recuses herself

Judge Caroline Rossy Brandão Fonseca of Rio de Janeiro's 4th Business Court declared herself suspect in the ongoing intervention case concerning Vasco da Gama's Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF). The matter was transferred to the 6th Business Court, and Rossy provisionally appointed Adriana Campos Conrado Zamponi as judicial administrator while Alexandre Cordeiro Macedo serves as interim councilor.

The intervention, previously ordered in June, removed club president Pedrinho and two other board members, halting the SAF’s restructuring and impeding negotiations with investor 777 Carioca. Vasco has now petitioned the court to revoke the intervention, arguing that it creates legal uncertainty, blocks player‑transfer plans and jeopardises the club’s mid‑season objectives in the Brazilian league.

Club officials and supporters have voiced concerns that the lack of a quorum for the board prevents decisive actions on coaching appointments and player signings, threatening the team’s performance and its fight to avoid relegation.
