Vasco da Gama sells JP to Casa Pia, retains €1.3 million buy‑back option

Brazilian club Vasco da Gama transferred midfielder João Pedro Murilo de Paula Morais (known as JP) to Portuguese side Casa Pia on a free permanent deal. The agreement includes a buy‑back clause that allows Vasco to re‑sign the 21‑year‑old for €1.3 million if he develops successfully in Portugal.

JP, a product of Vasco’s youth system, made nine senior appearances in the 2026 season after returning from a loan at Avaí. He failed to become a regular starter under coach Pedro Emanuel, prompting the move abroad. Casa Pia will give him his first full professional experience outside Brazil, while Vasco retains a financial option to bring him back.

The transfer generates no immediate revenue for Vasco, but the club hopes the clause will protect its investment should the player’s market value rise.
