Vasco da Gama to compete in Rio's Taça Guanabara futmesa tournament on June 7

The Botafogo Futmesa training centre in Rio de Janeiro will host the opening round of the 2026 Campeonato Estadual de Futebol de Mesa (12‑toques) on Sunday, 7 June, beginning at 09:00. Four traditional clubs – Vasco da Gama, America, Friburguense and Fluminense – will contest the Taça Guanabara, the first turn of the state championship. The competition follows a two‑turn format; the winner of the second turn (Taça Rio) is decided in October, and if the same club wins both turns it is automatically declared state champion, otherwise a final is played between the two turn winners.

Vasco da Gama enters as the reigning tetracampeão, having secured the 12‑toques title in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, and seeks an unprecedented fifth consecutive championship. Counting only editions actually held (the 2020‑21 seasons were cancelled due to the Covid‑19 pandemic), Vasco has won seven of the last eight titles and leads the historical record with twelve state crowns. America, Friburguense and Fluminense complete the field, each hoping to challenge Vasco's dominance.
