Vasco da Gama faces stadium and financial legal battles

Vasco da Gama is currently navigating multiple legal and financial challenges. The club argues it has a right to use the venue based on existing agreements, but the stadium's management, a consortium involving Flamengo and Fluminense, has denied the request citing necessary pitch maintenance. Recent court rulings have upheld the denial, noting that Vasco's request was made after maintenance schedules were already established.

Financially, the club is facing scrutiny over a requested R$ 150 million loan. A judge has maintained a freeze on these funds, citing the need for an audit to clarify the relationship between the debt and the ongoing sale of Vasco's SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol). Concerns were raised that the loan, provided by the same group bidding to acquire the club, could reach R$ 270 million and unfairly disadvantage other potential bidders by creating a massive debt burden.
