Vasco Rossi and Diego Spagnoli end 44-year professional partnership

Italian rock singer Vasco Rossi and his long-time stage manager, Diego Spagnoli, have ended their professional collaboration after 44 years. Spagnoli, who has been a fixture of Rossi’s live shows since 1982, announced his decision to leave via social media, noting that his departure was entirely his own choice and not forced by management.

Rossi addressed the split on social media, explaining that the separation followed a heated discussion during rehearsals for a recent tour. Rossi admitted to being “nervous and tense” during the argument, which occurred in front of witnesses, leading Spagnoli to feel offended. Rossi noted that while the incident was a breaking point in a relationship that had become increasingly difficult over the years, he remains grateful for their decades of partnership.

The split comes at a significant time for the singer, who is preparing for a major residency in Rome in June 2027 to celebrate his 50th anniversary in music. Spagnoli will not participate in the ten scheduled concerts at the Stadio Olimpico. Rossi stated that while Spagnoli is irreplaceable, the production will move forward and a solution will be found to continue the shows.
