Vasil Terziev denies Vitosha security promises amid investigation

Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev has commented on the ongoing ‘Petrohan-Okolchitsa’ investigation, noting that the timing of new prosecutorial data often coincides with significant political events. He expressed hope that expert examinations would conclude quickly to provide clarity to the public and allow institutions to focus on other national issues.

Addressing allegations that he promised to hand over the security of Vitosha Nature Park to private entities, Terziev categorically denied the claims. He clarified that discussions were limited to exploring how the mountain could be protected using a limited number of staff and increased technology, noting that the municipality does not have jurisdiction over park security.

Terziev also addressed his previous financial support for individuals associated with the group around Ivaylo Kalushev, stating he had personally provided 251,000 BGN because he believed he was supporting nature conservation. Regarding potential protests calling for his resignation, the Mayor stated that citizens have the right to express dissatisfaction as part of a functioning democracy.
