Vasile Bumbac leads Alcedar commune as one of Moldova's youngest mayors

Vasile Bumbac, one of the youngest mayors in the Republic of Moldova, leads the Alcedar commune in the Șoldănești district at age 26. In an interview with Radio Moldova, Bumbac discussed his transition from civic activism to public administration.

Bumbac noted that his decision to run for office stemmed from previous community involvement, including the restoration of local monuments. He expressed that his youth provides an advantage through increased energy and a desire for innovation, and he encouraged other young people to pursue leadership roles.

To address local challenges such as depopulation, Bumbac is focusing on development projects, specifically identifying tourism as a key solution for the community's growth.
