Vasile Tofan urges Gagauzia voters to reject manipulation
Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has issued a public appeal to the residents of the Gagauzia autonomy ahead of the elections scheduled for November 15. Tofan urged citizens to participate in large numbers to elect representatives for both the governor position and the People's Assembly.
In his message, Tofan emphasized that the future of the autonomy should be determined through honest voting rather than through “dirty money, manipulation, and lies.” He stated that only a fair election can authentically represent the will of the citizens.
The Prime Minister also highlighted government investments in the region, noting that over 140 million lei have been invested from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development over the last decade. Between 2022 and 2025, 115 investment projects were approved for local companies, with grants exceeding 40 million lei. One ongoing project includes the expansion of a business incubator in Ceadîr-Lunga, which is expected to create between 500 and 1,000 jobs. Tofan expressed a desire for open collaboration between central and regional authorities to improve public services, such as schools, kindergartens, and medical facilities.
