Vasilis Kikilias addresses shipping green transition and geopolitical impacts

Greek Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vasilis Kikilias, addressed the 25th NAVIGATOR 2026 forum, emphasizing that the shipping industry’s green transition must not occur at the expense of citizens. He noted that maritime developments directly impact global inflation, energy prices, and consumer goods costs.

Kikilias highlighted the profound influence of geopolitical conflicts on the global economy, specifically citing the importance of the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing war in the Persian Gulf. He also referenced the prolonged impact of the war in Ukraine, noting that such geopolitical crises do not resolve quickly and continue to exacerbate global instability.
