Vasilis Spanoulis named head coach of Greek club Aris Betsson on three‑year deal

Greek basketball federation coach Vasilis Spanoulis has signed a three‑year contract to become head coach of Aris Betsson, the Thessaloniki‑based club. The agreement, announced by the club, states “Η ΚΑΕ ΑΡΗΣ Betsson ανακοινώνει τη συμφωνία της με τον Βασίλη Σπανούλη για τα επόμενα τρία χρόνια.” Spanoulis, who led the Greece men’s national team to a bronze medal at EuroBasket, previously coached Monaco to the EuroLeague final and has guided Peristeri to the Basketball Champions League Final 4.

The deal is part of a broader five‑year plan for Aris, with the club’s budget expected to double from its initial €4.5‑5 million allocation. The three‑year term runs through the summer of 2029, giving the coach full authority to reshape the squad and restore the team’s status in Greek basketball.
