Vaslui council faces legal challenge over bus station while customs block glass‑fiber cargo
The Vaslui City Council approved the transfer of the historic Stadion bus station to the public company DAPTO for modernization into a commercial space. Councilor Constantin Carabină appealed the decision to the Prefecture, arguing that the project omitted the station’s proximity to the protected Mavrocordat Palace and lacked required heritage assessments. He requested a legality review and possible annulment of the council’s resolution.
Separately, ten trucks carrying glass‑fiber fabric from Belarus, destined for the Moldovan‑controlled Tiraspol plant, were halted at the Albița and Sculeni border points in 2024. Romanian customs detained the cargo over concerns it could be used for military purposes, such as drone production. A Czech firm, Labara SRO, has filed a lawsuit in Bucharest seeking the release of the goods and compensation, while Romanian courts upheld fines on the transporters but lifted the seizure of the material.
