Vaslui County Council President promotes regional tourism
Ciprian Trifan, President of the Vaslui County Council, recently promoted regional tourism during a gala for the North-East region. Trifan highlighted various attractions, including what he claimed to be 18 monasteries and at least 10 different itineraries for visitors. He also mentioned local landmarks such as the highest wooden church in the Moldavia region, the mini-delta in the Murgeni and Cârja areas, and the vineyards of Bunești-Averești.
However, official data from the Diocese of Huși, which manages the religious sites in the county, contradicts Trifan’s figures. According to the diocesan monograph ‘Tinda Raiului – Mănăstiri și schituri din ținutul Vasluiului’, there are 14 active monastic settlements in Vaslui, consisting of 12 active monasteries and 2 officially recognized sketes.
Local criticism has also been directed at the management of tourism funds, noting that the Vaslui County Council has spent over one million lei on various tourism projects over the last six years.
