Vaslui hosts week-long cultural festival and police anti‑ultra drill

From 10 to 16 August, the city of Vaslui will hold a week‑long celebration featuring concerts, recitals, exhibitions, book launches, sports competitions, workshops, outdoor film screenings and astronomy observations across venues such as the Civic Center, Copou Park and the Summer Theater. The programme, backed by sponsors Familia Safirsi and ILVAS Vaslui, includes the 12th edition of the Summer Cup football tournament and a wide range of activities for children and young people.

Earlier in the month, the Vaslui Gendarmerie, local police, firefighters and specially trained dogs carried out a large‑scale exercise in the city’s multipurpose hall. The drill simulated a disturbance by imagined ultra‑fans to test inter‑agency communication, coordination and gradual intervention for restoring public order. Organisers noted that the ultra phenomenon has long disappeared from Vaslui, citing past violent incidents in nearby towns that required firearms.

Both events aim to strengthen community engagement and public safety in the Romanian county seat.
