Vast and Blue Origin expand focus toward lunar infrastructure

Private aerospace companies are expanding their focus toward lunar infrastructure and sustained human presence in space. Vast, led by CEO Max Haot, has announced a new Lunar Programs division to develop lunar power equipment and airlocks. This expansion complements its development of Haven-1, a commercial space station in Long Beach, California, which is targeted for a 2027 launch.

Simultaneously, Blue Origin is working to build infrastructure for lunar habitation through its Blue Moon lander programs (MK1 and MK2) and the New Glenn launch system. To support these efforts and NASA’s lunar goals, Blue Origin is actively engaging small and disadvantaged businesses to strengthen its supply chain for mission-critical hardware, including avionics, precision machining, and advanced composites.
