Vasto residents rally against new coastal concessions in Punta Aderci

Volunteers and local citizens distributed flyers on the beach of Punta Penna, inside the Punta Aderci nature reserve, to oppose the coastal concessions included in the maritime demanial plan approved by the Vasto municipal council on 9 March. The petition, backed by Italia Nostra del Vastese, Konsumer and other local groups, has gathered more than 2,600 online signatures and accepts paper signatures at the Pro Loco office and the archdiocesan curia.

The activists argue that the concessions would threaten one of the last natural and free stretches of coastline in the municipality, which features cliffs, coves and unbuilt beaches of high environmental, landscape and identity value. They demand the removal of the concessions from the plan and full protection of the area.
