Vatican delegation meets social movements in La Matanza
A delegation from the Vatican is participating in a regional meeting in La Matanza, Argentina, organized by the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP). The event, held under the theme “Por una Magnífica Humanidad,” aims to develop a diagnostic report on the social issues facing vulnerable sectors in Latin America.
The conclusions of this meeting will be presented directly to Pope Leo XIV during his scheduled visit to Argentina from November 8 to 11. The discussions focus on five primary areas: social exclusion and human dignity, the transformation of employment due to automation, the impact of artificial intelligence and the concentration of technological power, the expansion of drug trafficking in popular neighborhoods, and the strengthening of community organization.
UTEP Secretary General Alejandro “Peluca” Gramajo noted that the agenda follows the guidelines of the encyclical “Magnifica Humanitas,” emphasizing the need for governance through subsidiarity in the face of technological advancements.
